I tried just my regular shampoo and several times but the smoke smell lingered then I used Lavender Essential oil just one drop in the Shampoo and washed my hair again there was not any trace of the smoke remaining I did the same thing with the laundry only used three drops and this dissipated any remains of the smell of the smokeHermanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16991836961667723986noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-132112842573673882.post-5416677480162675462009-12-18T10:11:00.002-07:002010-02-05T09:02:23.035-07:00

Hermanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16991836961667723986noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-132112842573673882.post-9487380015935700022009-12-18T09:17:00.005-07:002010-02-02T09:11:47.752-07:00
Therapeutic Essential Oils have been around since before the time of Christ in fact the three wise men brought the baby Jesus gifts of Gold Frankincense and myrrh and what wise gifts these were the baby Jesus would need protection from sickness and Frankincense does just this. In fact as I have gone through this year each morning I rub a drop of Frankincense onto my feet and I have been exposed to the Swine flu Bronchitis and pneumonia and many other things and have not felt a single effect. I hope that you all have a very merry Christmas and a happy new year and may you stay healthy throughout the year to come.Hermanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16991836961667723986noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-132112842573673882.post-74357099567465843432009-08-19T13:52:00.004-06:002010-03-04T12:51:40.797-07:00Cedarwood The oil has a wonderful, unique woody/ herbaceous and mildly sweet aroma, and a light, fluid consistency. This middle note combines well with frankincense, geranium, citrus and spice oils. This is a particularly nice, complex carrot seed oil that would lend itself well to natural perfumery.

The oil is often employed orally for regeneration of liver tissue. One drop taken daily is the recommended protocol; this may be particularly useful during a period of dietary restriction as part of an overall liver cleansing program. In 'Aromatherapy Scent and Psyche', Peter Damian notes: "Diuretic and hepatic, carrot seed operates as a kidney and liver cleanser, particularly indicated for jaundice and hepatitis. Its detoxifying properties are likewise effective for treating arthritis and rheumatism."

Carrot seed is a premier skin healing oil, regularly included in blends for dry and mature skin. The oil's high carotol content gives it its skin-rejuvenative properties. It can be added to nearly any skin care blend to enhance its effectiveness. Dr. Kurt Schnaubelt recommends the following blend for "dull, pallid skin, lifeless and tired from environmental stress...It is based on the regenerating, stimulating qualities of Carrot Seed"- Carrot Seed oil: .5ml, Lemon Verbena: .5ml, Niaouli: .5ml, Rosemary Verbenone: .5ml, based in 50ml of Hazelnut oil. Carrot seed will also blend well with Helichrysum and Rosemary Verbenone with Rosehip Seed for skin healing. Further, carrot seed oil is said to balance both dry and oily complexions. Small amounts would go nicely in almost any skin care blend, and could be used alone in a neutral base cream.

Carrot seed is also said to rejuvenate the energy of the solar plexus, and to be relieving of fatigue. It is also regularly indicated as a digestive tonic.

Suggested uses: Use on the skin in a carrier, alone or included with other essential oils. Blend as a natural perfume. The leaves and twigs of the tree are used for the extraction of cajeput oil. This oil is used in the treatment of diseases such as bone and joint pains and disorders, breathing problems, cholera, bronchitis, epilepsy, cough and cold, intestinal worms, headaches, laryngitis, pneumonia, toothaches, digestive disorders, urinary system disorders, skin problems such as acne, rheumatism, neuralgia, and many other diseases and health problems.

Cajeput essential oil or Melaleuca cajeputi, also known as white tree essential oil and swamp tea tree essential oil, is manufactured by harvesting the leaves in a warm and dry climate. This allows the concentration of the oil to be maximized.

The leaves and twigs are mixed with the water after crushing them and left for a night or two. After this the extraction is carried out by steam distillation like other spicy oils.
Cajeput oil has camphor-like odor, similar to that of eucalyptus. Whether cajeput oil is used internally or externally, it should be diluted in the form of an essential oil. In order to get relief from high fever, the oil is rubbed on the chest of the patient. This helps to relieve congestion in the chest. The use of cajeput essential oil in soothing ointments and massaging oils helps to alleviate various types of muscular aches. Cajeput oil is considered an indispensable part of traditional medicine in the East and is used as an antidote for cholera, cold and fever, different skin diseases, muscle aches, throat infections, and other health issues. The oil is thought to have connections with the spiritual side and is used to escalate the spirit and instill optimism. Cajeput essential oil improves concentration and relaxes the mind.

Cajeput oil blends commendably with wintergreen and eucalyptus. The oil maybe used as a tonic and an insecticide. It is used in soaps, detergents, perfumes, and various cosmetics to add fragrance to them. For flavouring, it is also used in drinks and various kinds of foods. The oil is considered safe from side effects; however, it may cause irritation on the skin if used in excessive quantities.
Hermanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16991836961667723986noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-132112842573673882.post-19782860856218497432009-08-07T07:58:00.002-06:002009-08-07T08:06:27.860-06:00Blue Tansy Essential Oil

Blue Tansy oil's high azulene content gives it a vivid, deep blue color. Today, the plant is cultivated from Egypt to India.
For me the common name "love in the mist" aptly describes the poetry of this exquisite plant. In the garden, one easily imagines etheric spirits flitting about amongst its evanescent bluish-white blossoms. Even the seedpods, which are so often used in dried flower arrangements, suggest an otherworldly sense of exotic enchantment. Is it possible that such a delicately beautiful herb, with such potent medicinal properties would be so hardy as to easily reseed itself in our gardens year after year?
With an exalted position of use throughout the Middle East and to a somewhat lesser extent in India and other Eastern lands, the information about Black Seed Oil I owe to herbalist, plant-scientist extraordinaire, Jim Duke as presented in his book Medicinal Plants of the Bible. In it he describes Black Cumin as a Muslim Miracle Herb which, according to an Arab Proverb it is said that, 'in the black seed is the medicine for every disease except death.'
In Turkey the black cumin seeds are widely cultivated and traded in ton lots throughout the Middle East, Northern Africa and India. The black cumin seeds are used both as a condiment in bread and cakes and various confections and like pepper or combined with pepper such as cayenne in sauces. The Ethiopians add along with other spices to flavor local alcoholic beverages. Still another use is to sprinkle them with woolen garments as a moth repellant.

Use: Black Seed Oil has been used as a digestive aid, an effective medicine for colds, headaches, toothaches, and infections. Because of Black Seed Oil's complex chemical structure (more than one hundred active ingredients) Black cumin essential oil has positive effects on the respiratory, circulatory, digestive, immune, and urinary systems. Recent research has verified claims that Black Seed Oil strengthens and stabilizes the immune system and is effective in the treatment of asthma, allergies, and other immune disorders as well as numerous skin conditions ranging from acne to psoriasis. Black Seed Oil has helped with bronchial spasm, spasmodic coughs, muscle pain, osteo-arthritis, rheumatism, accumulation of fluid or toxins, poor circulation, lymphatic congestion, mumps, glandular swelling, colic, dyspepsia, flatulence, colitis, colic, indigestion, constipation, frigidity, debility, migraine, tiredness, nervous exhaustion, insomnia, and lethargy. Black Seed Oil may be useful in hepatitis, hypothyroidism, normalizing menstrual cycles, and testicular inflammation.Hermanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16991836961667723986noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-132112842573673882.post-39353260348654508322009-07-31T07:50:00.002-06:002009-07-31T08:06:21.634-06:00Cooking with essential oils

Many Therapeutic essential oils make great seasoning and it only takes 1-2 drops for the equivalent of a full bottle of dry herbs so they work very well. Ylang Ylang, Cedarwood, Holy Basil and Sage act well when used in shampoo or in place of your normal shampoo. A few drops of Geranium, Patchouli and Rose, aloe, chamomille or hilichrisim in your lotion will be a great inhancement or you can use a blend of aloe hilichrisim and chamomille in place of lotion.
Hermanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16991836961667723986noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-132112842573673882.post-18322192606197463552009-07-29T16:23:00.002-06:002009-07-29T16:40:33.592-06:00Toothache or Sore Throat

Have you ever used cloroceptic for a sore throat or a tooth ache? I found an oil that works just as well or better. Clove oil is amazing it acts just like clorceptic except that it is completely natural. I have used it in a couple of ways; the first is to put a couple of drops in a cup of drinking water. this numbs the throat for several hours or until you eat another way that I have used it is to place a drop on the sore area and use the numbing power in a more local area like a tooth or a canker sore.
Hermanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16991836961667723986noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-132112842573673882.post-35687848477927133102009-07-28T07:54:00.003-06:002009-07-28T08:05:05.310-06:00Sinus Problems

I have been using a great blend the last couple of days. This blend is perfect for anyone suffering from aliments in the sinus area I have sinus headaches that can almost completely put me out of commision. but this blend really helps. Here is what you need to do. in an empty bottle mix two parts pepermint two parts lemon and one part eucalyptus. shake well and then apply to the sinus areas on your temples across the forehead under the eyes ( careful not to get to close this oil burns a bit and will be really painfull if it gets in the eyes ) and the bridge of the nose. In all about 2-3 drops should do the trick. This will make you tear up and may give a burning sensation to sensitive skin. test it first on a more hardy piece of skin to see what you can expect. If it gets to hot do not use water as this will only make the effects worse you can use a vegitable oil or carrier oil to thin the oils effects. I usually do this before going to bed for the evening. It helps me to wake up clear and lessens the effects of my headaches.
Hermanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16991836961667723986noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-132112842573673882.post-2476184770429287852009-07-27T12:31:00.002-06:002009-07-27T12:38:16.003-06:00More on Birch Oil

Birch Oil 2

Oil properties
Birch oil has a balsamic smell and is pale yellow in color.
Origin of birch oil
This decorative tree is native to the northern hemisphere and grows up to 15-20 meters in height. I used to work at a retail location and while lifting a box I strained my back. I was told by the doctor that I would likely need surgery to go back to work. This was not really an option for me so I tried physical therapy. my back got a little better but not good enough that I could continue working. I tried a chiropractor and that helped a bit but I got horrible headaches after every visit and it was extremely expensive. I still was not well enough to return to my full duties at as a retail manager. Then one day my mom told me she wanted me to try something. She gave me a bottle of birch oil and a bottle of peppermint oil she told me to use a carrier oil and use about 5 drops of each of the oils and massage it into my back then once it had been worked in well to put a hot compress towel on the oils and to leave it there until it was so hot that I could no longer stand the heat. I tried it that evening. The next morning I was amazed at the results. I was fully able to move. I did it again the next night and went back to work that following day. I still get a sore back every once in a while but all it takes is a few minutes and a nice massage from my wife and I am good to go again for another couple of months. I worked in retail for 6 years after that and have never had a problem with my back again. I will post more on this miraculous oil in the future.
Hermanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16991836961667723986noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-132112842573673882.post-26656820422056387632009-07-23T12:23:00.003-06:002009-07-23T12:37:20.356-06:00Bergamot Oil

Bergamot Oil

A fresh smelling therapeutic essential oil has been a favorite in aromatherapy and is great for creating a relaxed and happy feeling. According to the legend the Delphi oracle chewed on bay leaves, or inhaled the smoke of burning leaves to promote her visionary trances. Bay, or laurel, was used in rome by Emperors, heroes and poets who wore wreaths of laurel leaves. The Greek word for laurel is dhafni, named for the myth of the nymph Daphne, who was changed into a laurel tree by Gaea, who transformed her to help her escape Apollo’s attempted rape. Apollo made the tree sacred and thus it became a symbol of honour. Triumphant athletes of ancient Greece were awarded laurel garlands a tradition that continues today.

Attributed Medicinal Properties
In the Middle Ages it was believed to induce abortions and to have many magical qualities. It was once used to keep moths away, owing to the leafs lauric acid content which gives it insecticidal properties. Bay leaf has many properties which make it useful for treating high blood sugar, migraine headaches, bacterial and fungal infections, and gastric ulcers. Bay leaves and berries have been used for their astringent, carminative, diaphoretic, digestive, diuretic, emetic and stomachic properties. Bay Oil, or Oil of Bays (Oleum Lauri) is used in liniments for bruising and sprains. Bay leaf has been used as an herbal remedy for headaches. It contains compounds called parthenolides, which have proven useful in the treatment of migraines. Bay leaf has also been shown to help the body process insulin more efficiently, which leads to lower blood sugar levels. It has also been used to reduce the effects of stomach ulcers. Bay Leaf contains eugenol, which has anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant properties. Bay leaf is also an anti-fungal and anti-bacterial. Bay Leaf has also been used to treat rheumatism, amenorrhea, and colic.

Culinary Uses
Bay leaves are widely used throughout the world. In the ancient Greek text of Dioscorides, Artemisia is mentioned as a remedy for expelling intestinal worms, and thus its name "wormwood". Artemisia has a long history of use in herbal medicine especially in matters connected to the digestive system, menstrual complaints and the treatment of worms. In Asian traditional medicine, Artemisia is used as a method of correcting breech presentation. The leaves have an antibacterial action and are also said to be appetizer, diuretic, haemostatic and stomachic. Not to mention, the leaves, placed inside the shoes, are said to be soothing for sore feet. In the Himalayas of Nepal, leaf of Artemisia is rolled up into the nostril to stop nosebleeds. Artemisia essential oil, works as insect repellant. Diluted oil is used to kill insect larvae.

Artemisia was used by the ancient Egyptians, Greeks and Romans both medicinally and in religious rites and was thought to be a love charm centuries ago. The Indian tribes of North America prepared parts of this plant to treat sore throats and bronchitis.

Artemisia afra is one of the oldest and best known medicinal plants, and is still widely used today in South Africa by people of all cultures. The list of uses covers a wide range of ailments from coughs, colds, fever, loss of appetite, colic, headache, earache, intestinal worms to malaria. Artemisia afra (roots, stems and leaves) is used in many different ways and taken as enemas, poultices, infusions, body washes, lotions, smoked, snuffed or drunk as a tea. A not so common use is to place leaves in socks for sweaty feet (Watt & Breyer-Brandwijk 1962). The native of Egypt, Pimpinella anisum, is anise seed or aniseed, while China is the source of Illicum verum, star anise. In the past, dill, caraway and fennel seeds were confused with aniseed. The seeds have been used widely in cooking, and are popular in spicy cakes. The “oil of anise” is often used in artificial licorice, and gives its distinctive taste to liqueurs such as anisette and raki. Aniseed is used in many processed foods and in cough medicines, and is often included in pet foods for the flavor it imparts.
Medicinal Use: Anise seed oil is a natural decongestant. Anise seed oil may assist in colic, indigestion, cramps, flatulence, vomiting, diarrhea, bile secretion, muscle aches, spasms, rheumatism, pulmonary congestion, bronchitis, asthma, colds, flu, cardiovascular function, frigidity, and impotence. Anise seed oil has estrogen-like properties and may induce menstruation, ease painful periods, menopause problems, stimulate milk flow and aid delivery.
Safety Information: Caution for those with hypersensitive skin or with skin problems.
